Missions and Activities of the Research Team

A. General Objectives

  • Examine the challenges of growth and development

    in Algeria, and explore mechanisms to diversify the Algerian economy to transition from a rentier-based model to a wealth-generating and sustainable economy;
  • Propose solutions that contribute to building a new economy

    aimed at enhancing the performance of productive sectors (agriculture, industry) and increasing investments in the productive private sector;
  • Formulate a strategic roadmap to develop and improve the investment environment

    in Algeria, simplify business licensing procedures, and eliminate barriers for investors;
  • Investigate methods to develop and modernize the Algerian financial and banking sector

    to meet the prerequisites of the targeted economic diversification;
  • Research pathways to develop and strengthen the digital economy ecosystem

    in Algeria;
  • Highlight the pivotal role of the private sector and entrepreneurship (innovation)

    in driving economic diversification;
  • Promote the deployment of renewable energy

    as a core strategy for energy diversification in Algeria to boost foreign currency revenues;
  • Establish an operational strategy to advance Islamic finance

    in Algeria.

B. Scientific Foundations

  • Develop a conceptual and theoretical framework

    for a development path centered on economic diversification within the requirements of sustainable development;
  • Construct econometric models

    to demonstrate the impacts of diversification across various development dimensions;
  • Analyze and evaluate existing research, studies, and reports

    issued by international organizations and scientific laboratories regarding diversification;
  • Examine contemporary economic growth theories

    and their explanations of diversification challenges within natural resource-based economies;
  • Assess the roles of the State, the private sector, and civil society

    in achieving economic diversification;
  • Analyze entrepreneurship

    as an operational mechanism for economic diversification;
  • Investigate the knowledge economy

    and its structural role in economic diversification;
  • Review and extrapolate international experiences

    in achieving successful economic diversification.
